Adult Swim's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Earns a Substantial Renewal for Two More Seasons.

During the fall season, the late-night programming block saw the return of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. However, later that same month, the channel launched a brand-new animated series with a markedly softer tone. Haha, You Clowns emerged as gentle and comforting, evoking a cartoon version of a serene talk show. During a period often characterized by bleakness, this show's wholesomeness found an audience and turned it into a breakout hit.

A Major Commitment

In mid-December, Adult Swim confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for a further two seasons. This provides showrunner Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the world of the Campbell family. The show focuses on three polite teenage brothers whose defining trait is their strong bond for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four key characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the fans of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and spread the word," said Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Network Praise

Accompanying the news praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He shouted out the fans who discovered the show and advocated for its uniquely offbeat sensibility.

"All of you got behind this new show, praised it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a comforting antidote" to more cynical adult animated fare. There’s something unexpectedly cozy about observing this charming family navigate their everyday routines.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa expressed his hope to help comedy break out of its long-running cynical streak. He linked this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“There's this level of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” said Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we just have to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

What Comes Next

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa may well be part of that change he described. At a minimum, the renewal guarantees audiences additional episodes to enjoy the gentle humor of the beloved Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The complete first season is available for streaming on HBO Max.
