Canada's Blue Jays Secure World Series Matchup With the Dodgers
Springer was instrumental for the Astros securing the World Series in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays reached their maiden World Series after the 1993 season by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the American League Championship Series.
Trailing three runs to one, Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh frame, leading the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 win in the seven-game series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the forthcoming championship.
"I'm just so happy for our team, Toronto, our country," Springer stated, a star of the Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "What an amazing experience."
George Springer has now connected for twenty-three playoff homers, ranking him third on the list behind Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).
"I can't think of anyone else in the world that I want up in that spot besides Springer with his October magic," said Schneider.
Seattle, who had led the early in the series, continue to be the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a championship series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "there's no question that it hurts" following his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but praised their efforts this season.
"This is a unique group. Sadly that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this game," he remarked.
Toronto claimed the title on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Los Angeles in game one on the upcoming Friday.
