Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
