Eulogies Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Face a Security Hold.
Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt prepared to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can finally put my grief into words," posted Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started spending more time together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the movie, remarking that he cannot recall "one day without mirth".
"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Values that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator
In a different tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles judge agreed to bar the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate put a embargo on the files to prohibit the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the probe.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of homicide, with a record noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
After the killings, public personalities shared varying comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, offering provocative remarks that were widely condemned by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the critics recently. Conversing on his program, Rogan labeled the comments as "shocking" and implied they showed a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by suggesting that an aide could have stepped in when the decision to weigh in on the passing was made.
