Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Adds to the English team's Fitness Problems.

'Significant concern' for the touring side after Atkinson goes off with a hamstring injury.

The English seamer increased the fitness woes of the England squad upon exiting the ground early on day two of the fourth Ashes Test versus the Australians.

The right-arm seamer experienced discomfort in his hamstring after the final ball in his spell at the MCG.

The touring camp reported Atkinson reported "discomfort" and would spend time on the sidelines to undergo evaluation "over the next few hours".

The concluding match of the tour beginning on 4 January begins at the end of the week.

The visitors have been without strike bowlers Mark Wood to a knee injury and another paceman to a side strain on the current trip.

Matthew Fisher was called up to provide backup.

Atkinson struggled in the opening two Tests, taking just a handful of scalps.

He was omitted from the previous Test, before being recalled for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.

The county bowler showed better form in Melbourne, claiming a couple of wickets in Australia's first innings, then making 28 with the bat as one of just three England players to get into double digits.

After bowling one over late on the first day, he resumed on Saturday morning and dismissed the nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

Unfortunately, towards the conclusion of the fifth over, he delivered a variation to the batsman and immediately felt for his hamstring.

The English bowler was brought back for the fourth Ashes Test following his omission the previous Test.
